    Position Overview

    As the Lead UI Designer, your responsibilities will include areas of visual design such as typography, iconography, color, space and texture. You will use your knowledge, expertise, and skills in all these fields to translate business needs, content, and vision into beautiful, functional and inspiring applications. In this role, you will collaborate with our UX designers, technology experts, product team and more to build fantastic products.

    What you will work on

    • Design development: Developing designs for new and existing Software products, collaborating with product and technology experts, as well as UX Design and marketing research, to bring new ideas to fruition.
    • Design standardization: The UI Design Lead is responsible for developing and documenting design standards that bring all of the DrFirst products a consistent look and feel. They are responsible for communicating those standards and working with development and product teams to ensure the delivery of best-in-class products.
    • Problem solving: The problems we are solving are unique and complex. This takes critical thinking, root cause analysis, and issue dissection with the team to come up with the best solution. The UI designer is expected to actively participate in brainstorming and iterative product development process.
    • Delivering: We are committed to producing world class products. Being skilled at managing competing priorities, pivoting and adjusting quickly, and thinking about the big picture are keys to success.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, visual communications / design-related major
    • 5+ years working in a professional environment as a visual designer or similar role 
    • Portfolio demonstrating the ability to create visual consistency of design, look and feel, style guides, and production across multiple product lines
    • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD / Sketch, InVision or similar prototyping software
    • Working knowledge of how interactive elements in websites work; basic understanding of HTML, CSS, video, and animation
    • Experience designing SaaS interfaces, Mobile (native and web), as well as new and emerging digital media
    • Experience collaborating with design, product, and technology teams to develop and interpret design needs
    • An eye for detail, typography, and color
    • Ability to concept unique ideas and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
    • Experience with the web design process including concepting, wireframes, prototyping, low and hi-fidelity mockups a plus; this role is responsible for visual development through creation of pixel perfect assets.
    • Understanding of digital image formats, resolution, and size
    • Understanding of responsive design and grid layout for web
    • Nimble learner with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
    • Ability to develop effective style guide and contribute to requirements
    • Ability to develop best-in-class branding for multiple product groups
    • Comfortable iterating with stakeholders through iterative design cycles; your collaboration skills will engage interdisciplinary (non-design) team members toward a final decision and design approval (ie, not allowing the team to get lost in revisions). Be able to articulate the pros/and cons of options and the methodology of your design choices
    • Experience educating partners on brand standards; identify design deviation and manage design debt
    • Champion quality, standards, user-centered design, and the customer
    • Knowledge and interest in UX, HTML, CSS, video editing, animation, designing to meet accessibility standards (508 compliance, etc.) are big pluses
