Position Overview

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Director of Revenue Operations will be responsible for all aspects of revenue recognition, audit and review of contract compliance, and managing and mentoring the revenue accounting department the Director of Revenue Operations will help to create and implement improvements accounting processes for sales from the proposal stage through invoicing and revenue recognition. This individual will stay abreast of industry regulations and changes in technical accounting matters and ensure compliance with respect to revenue and reporting.

What you will work on

  • Document revenue recognition positions and appropriate controls for all of DrFirst’s products and business lines
  • Review sales, distribution, and marketing agreements to identify accounting issues and monitor compliance with the Company's revenue recognition policies
  • Document and monitor all revenue share arrangements
  • Prepare 606 contract review and technical accounting position paper for new/non-standard contracts
  • Assist sales and legal teams with contract negotiation by participating in discussions, reviewing draft contracts, and providing revenue recognition recommendations for existing and new products, contracts, and services. Communicate key risks to accounting management.
  • Integrate contemplated acquisitions into the Company’s accounting system and align accounting policies
  • Manage monthly revenue close and strive for process efficiencies to reduce the monthly close timing
  • Mentor, evaluate, and train revenue accounting staff by providing constructive feedback and ensuring the team is properly cross-trained.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts and training with groups outside of corporate accounting, including legal, sales, and finance to ensure all sources of revenue are properly reviewed for accounting purposes and processed on a timely basis
  • Review and support all revenue recognition disclosures in all financial audits or SEC filings, if appropriate
  • Support external and internal audits of internal controls as well as management of the Company’s external audit over revenue recognition
  • Create detailed revenue reporting as needed for management purposes
  • Monitor industry/regulatory changes with respect to revenue recognition and develop new processes and policies to accommodate accordingly. Effectively communicate revenue recognition risks and opportunities to Senior Management.
  • Assist where necessary in the Company’s commission accrual and payment process
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
  • Take the lead at documenting processes for all of the company's various revenue programs (ex. Hippo, CRx, OPRx, others) coordinating with sales operations and account management leaders to validate the integrity of the program data and customer invoicing.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA certificate, Masters in Accounting is required
  • Technical manager/transformational leader with in-depth experience in process improvement.
  • 10 plus years of accounting experience, with public accounting experience and Corporate experience managing revenue recognition preferably in a SAAS-based industry.
  • Solid experience accounting for complex contracts and high-volume transactions, of revenue fluctuations, and ad hoc data requests from executive management.
  • Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills with a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Must be comfortable extracting and working hands-on with large volumes of sales data, comprehending contract language, preparing account reconciliations, and other duties as assigned.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, and credibility; a proactive, hands-on critical thinker who will own, in partnership with the Corporate Controller, the responsibility for the Company’s revenue line items;
  • Technology savvy with intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger and accounting, MS Word, and MS Excel. Experience with NetSuite and customer relationship management tools is preferred.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, or other outside partners

  • 75% working at desk/ phone
  • 25% travel to DrFirst and customer locations per business requirements
