Position Overview

We are seeking a highly creative provocateur that solves puzzles for breakfast and scales their solution by dinnerAs a Senior Data Scientist you will join a merry band of 9 data scientists and data geeks to lead and contribute to AI and ML initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in natural language processing (NLP) and experience working with large language models (LLMs), event driven data pipelines Your team reports directly with the President and Chief Geek of our company, expect to work with and report to executive management often.  

Your Mission: Revolutionize patient access to therapy. 

The Challenge: Navigating the complex world of healthcare bureaucracy often involves completing non-standardized forms with over 100,000 free-text questions. This process creates a significant barrier for patients seeking timely treatment. 

Your Role: Lead a cross-functional team to develop an AI-powered solution that breaks down these barriers. You'll leverage cutting-edge technologies, including LLMs from Google and Anthropic, to analyze patient information and automatically generate accurate responses to these complex forms. 

What you will work on

  • Develop and implement ML models to extract, classify, and generate relevant information from medical records, insurance documents, and other sources. 
  • Ensure the solution is scalable, accurate, and compliant with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA). 
  • Collaborate with software architects to achieve lightning-fast response times (under 100ms) for millions of transactions. 

 

Impact: Your work will directly improve patient access to critical therapies, ensuring they receive the care they need when they need it.  

That is just project one, you will also collaborate with other initiatives such as ambient listening, provider identify fraud, agentic automation, data quality uplift, virtual medical assistants, and much, much more.  

Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and NLP. 
  • Proven experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs). 
  • Strong background in NLP, including text classification, information extraction, and text generation. 
  • Hands-on experience with Tensor flow, bedrock, and vertex AI. 
  • Ability to craft and deploy your own solutions with modern GitOPS/terraform.  
  • Experience in model productionization and working with MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow). 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL. 
  • Experience with AWS or GCP. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry. 
  • Familiarity with FHIR standards. 
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning or few-shot learning techniques. 
  • Publications or contributions to the NLP/ML community.

  • Competitive compensation, with a base salary of $150,000 - $190,000 (Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience)
